About the role

The Computational Fluid Dynamics Modeling Specialist will work in the Process Equipment Skill Center within the Process Technology & Equipment SBU. Reporting to the Senior Chemical Engineering Manager, the role offers a Hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Apply fluid mechanics theory through modeling and other calculation methods for developing innovative solutions in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
  • Participate in the development and commercialization of new technologies and equipment strategically important to UOP.
  • Provide CFD support for reactor and equipment optimization and scale-up.
  • Analyze process equipment damage, offer technical support, and resolve issues.
  • Assess fluid mechanic limitations and develop strategies to overcome them.
  • Develop innovative and cost-effective solutions for process-related equipment design.
  • Represent UOP in customer and vendor meetings regarding technical matters.
  • Present papers at technical meetings and participate in national professional groups and technical organizations.

Qualifications

  • Masters in Mechanical Engineering or M.S. degree with 4-5 years of relevant work experience, or PhD with 2-3 years of experience.
  • Developed proficiency using fluid mechanics computer codes (e.g., ANSYS Fluent and/or CFX).
  • Developed knowledge in computer programming for developing user subroutines.
  • Ability to travel 10% both domestically and internationally.
  • Developed knowledge in flow distribution, mixing, transient flow distribution, thermal/hydraulic events, heat transfer, and fluidization (gas–solid, liquid-solid, liquid-gas, and liquid-gas-solids).
  • Demonstrated technical growth, innovation, problem-solving abilities, and accomplishments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in multiphase flow and gas combustion.
  • Familiarity with using discrete particle software is a plus.
  • Able to pay attention to details and work effectively on teams and independently.
  • Utilize excellent planning and organizational skills to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Utilize excellent communication skills to work with customers, write reports, and make presentations.
  • Application of Six Sigma methodologies and tools in product development efforts is a plus.

Pay

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $129,000 to $161,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

Schedule

This role offers a Hybrid work schedule. For the first 90 days, new hires must be prepared to work 100% onsite Monday – Friday.
