Lead Cashier

About the Role

The Lead Cashier (LC) is responsible for the efficiency of guest transactions and maintaining excellence in cashwrap standards, including cleanliness and overall aesthetics. Experienced in cashiering, the LC assists in the training of new cashiers and the cross-training of other associates, demonstrating the ability to proactively collaborate, lead, and influence peers.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to meeting or exceeding store goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty (including credit), and retail shrink.
• Ensure each guest receives exceptional service by providing a guest-friendly environment, greeting and engaging guests, personalizing service, and recommending Ulta Beauty products and/or services.
• Courteously handle sales, refunds, and exchanges.
• Pair guests with associates for makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance the guest experience.
• Book appointments for services and in-store events, ensuring an unrivaled guest experience while meeting sales goals.
• Maintain and replenish cashwrap displays, supplies, and impulse fixtures to ensure guest-readiness.
• Support the leadership team with cashier chat ins/outs and associate exit inspections.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, and drive accountability for credit and loyalty goals.
• Assist in training new cashiers and cross-training associates in cashiering.
• Lead and engage peers to achieve peak productivity and performance.
• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
• Complete register open and close functions as directed.
• Maintain store cleanliness and organization, including cashwrap, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, and break area.
• Protect company assets and minimize loss by adhering to inventory control and loss prevention procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• 2 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven ability to delegate, multi-task, and problem-solve.
• Demonstrated knowledge and passion for guest service and selling.
• Experience addressing guest concerns professionally and exceeding sales goals.
• Proficiency with basic technology (e.g., POS system, Apple devices).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Ability to react under pressure and adapt in ambiguous situations.

Special Requirements

• Work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Continuous mobility, frequent bending, lifting up to 25 lbs, and coordination/manipulation of objects during shift.
