Lead Brand & Creative Strategist
The mission of Headway is to solve the biggest barrier to mental healthcare: insurance. We automate the administrative work of credentialing, claims, and payment reconciliation, allowing over 75,000 providers across all 50 states to serve over 1 million patients. Our goal is to build the best tools for therapists to run their practices, improve the experience of finding a therapist, and invest in the platform foundations to enable this at scale.
About the role
We are seeking a Lead Brand & Creative Strategist to help us achieve our mission. This is a rare, early opportunity to build Headway's first true brand strategy from the ground up. You will own brand strategy, drive creative strategy, and lead cultural listening to ensure our brand remains relevant and impactful.
Responsibilities
- Own brand strategy
- Define and evolve Headway's brand positioning, narrative, voice, and visual identity
- Ensure the brand flexes appropriately across our core audiences and objectives while staying consistently, unmistakably Headway
- Drive creative strategy for major campaigns, brand moments, and launches
- Close the insight gaps by partnering with Customer Insights to map what we know, what we're missing, and what the market is telling us
- Run listening sessions to surface what's being said — and not said — about mental healthcare
- Stay competitively sharp by keeping a close eye on competitive positioning
- Lead feedback sessions with creative and product teams, delivering clear, actionable direction rooted in strategy and brand best practices
- Build and steward brand systems, including developing brand guidelines and creative frameworks
- Measure and iterate by partnering with Customer Insights to define how brand health and creative effectiveness are measured
Requirements
- 10+ years in brand strategy, brand management, or brand marketing
- A track record of building brands that earn lasting reputation and trust
- Experience navigating complex, regulated industries
- Strong customer-first instincts and ability to influence without authority
- Energetic and comfortable with complexity and uncertainty

Pay
Salary range: $150,000 - $200,000 annually
