General Summary
The Lead Behavior Technician (Lead BT) is a lead frontline role responsible for supporting the quality, consistency, and compliance of services within a residential facility. Reporting to the Site Supervisor, this position serves as a subject matter resource for staff, with a focus on staff onboarding and training, individual treatment plans, treatment team meetings and documentation quality. The Lead BT will also support shift coverage and assistance in the self-administration of medication during their hours of work, if necessary.
Mission Overview of Primary Responsibilities
- Adheres to the organization’s treatment philosophy, Trauma Informed Behavioral Approach (TIBA)
- Cultivates the core of the model, Foundational Four, within the program
- Staff Onboarding & Training
- Participates in hiring of new employees
- Lead onboarding of new Behavior Technicians, including orientation to the home, routines, and expectations
- Works with Training Department to ensure implementation of 90 day flight plan for all new employees
- Train staff on behavior support approaches, daily structure, and member engagement
- Reinforce proper documentation practices and service delivery expectations
- Reviews new employee documentation for accuracy, completeness and quality during the first 90 days of employment
- Provide ongoing coaching and skill development for existing staff
- Serve as a role model for best practices in member interaction and professionalism
- Treatment Team Participation
- Oversight of ISP’s: working with BHT’s in developing ISP’s for members
- Attend treatment team meetings and provide input on member progress, behaviors, and day-to-day functioning
- Support implementation of treatment recommendations within the home environment
- Quality of Care Support
- Aid in ensuring consistency in the implementation of daily routines and behavioral support strategies
- Monitor member engagement and provide guidance to staff to improve quality of interactions
- Assist in managing behavioral situations and modeling appropriate interventions
- Promote a structured, safe, and therapeutic environment
- Licensing Compliance & Documentation Oversight
- Ensure the home operates in alignment with applicable licensing and regulatory requirements
- Makes random selections and reviews at least 5 notes per month of documentation for accuracy, completeness, and quality
- Provides real-time feedback and correction to staff regarding documentation expectations
- Supports readiness for internal and external reviews by maintaining organized and compliant records
Qualifications And Experience
- Minimum Education Required: High School Diploma
- Minimum Experience Required: 3 years of Behavioral/Mental Health direct care experience
- License Requirement: NA
- BH Level: BHT
Company/Regulatory Requirements
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Able to pass 5 panel drug test & submit to regular screening
- Valid AZ DPS Level I fingerprint clearance card (must maintain valid card throughout employment)
- CPR, First Aid, AED certification, if required (must maintain throughout employment)
- Current, valid Driver’s License and 39-month Motor Vehicle Report and proof of vehicle registration liability insurance to meet insurance requirements
- Initial current negative TB test result, if required (Employer provides)
