About the role
Union Square Events Moss is a private members' club offering a refined yet welcoming dining experience. Our approach to hospitality is thoughtful, detail-driven, and rooted in collaboration across culinary, beverage, and service teams. We have an opening for a full time Lead Bartender position at Moss - 520 5th Avenue, New York, NY 10036.
Requirements
- Two years of NYC bartending experience is required
- Full availability is required; days and hours may vary (more details upon interview)
Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operation and continued development of the bar program
- Develop and maintain a thoughtful, seasonally relevant cocktail program aligned with the club's philosophy
- Assist management with beverage purchasing, receiving, inventory, storage, and organization
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels while helping to control beverage costs, waste, breakage, and variance
- Assist with inventory counting
- Maintain bar equipment and systems and identify operational needs proactively
- Establish clear expectations for preparation, service, cleanliness, organization, and guest engagement
- Prepare and serve beverages to guests in bar area in a friendly, courteous and timely manner
- Adhere to state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests
- Set up assigned bars; requisition and stock all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments, glassware, ice and produce
- Maintain stock, prepare, cure and store all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables to ensure product quality
- Greet guests in a courteous, friendly manner
- Take and/or process orders for drinks; mix, garnish and present drinks using standard ingredient recipes; practice prudent portion control
- Check guests at the bar for proper identification
- Detect and act upon guest inebriation as trained
- Demonstrate knowledge of liquor laws
- Receive cash from guests, make change, verify validity of charges, record charges and ensure vouchers are properly executed
- Lock up and store all beverage product, food, equipment items, deposits and cash drops; secure bank
- Perform general cleaning tasks to adhere to health and safety standards; keep work area clean and organized
- Arrange bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display in the bar area
- Wash and sterilize stemware
- Perform other duties as assigned
Pay
Fixed Pay Rate: $19.00 per hour.
