Lead Barista

Job Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in setting the tone for each shift by leading through example and supporting both guests and team members
  • Delivering warm, engaging, and attentive guest service
  • Leading and supporting barista and cashier team members during service
  • Preparing handcrafted beverages and food items to Maison Lodi standards
  • Jumping into barista, cashier, and food build roles as needed
  • Assisting with training and coaching new team members
  • Maintaining cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards
  • Supporting café opening and closing procedures
  • Helping ensure smooth operations during high-volume shifts
  • Promoting menu items and providing knowledgeable recommendations to guests

About the Role

Maison Lodi is a café where French baking traditions meet California wine country sophistication. Led by Chef Charlie Palmer and Thomas Bellec, the café celebrates Lodi's agricultural bounty with thoughtful menus, artisan breads, and local wines.

Qualifications

  • Previous café, coffee shop, or hospitality leadership experience preferred
  • Strong communication and guest service skills
  • Positive attitude with the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Team-oriented mindset and willingness to support wherever needed
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays

Essential Function

To perform the duties and requirements for this job, you must have the following physical abilities:

  • Ability to see with close vision, have depth perception and ability to adjust focus to small numbers and words.
  • Enter data into a computer terminal, operate standard office equipment, and use telephone.
  • Ten key/typing proficient
  • See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids.
  • Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone.
  • Working in hot and cold outdoor conditions
  • Be able to handle stress and have the mental capacity to do so under stressful times and situations.
  • Constant: walking, standing and repetitive use of hands, arms, and legs
  • Frequent: bending and bending of neck, grasping, pushing, pulling, and reaching below, above and at shoulder level, lifting of chairs and tables for reset of rooms
  • Occasional: twisting of neck, power grasping, climbing stairs while carrying trays and products
  • You must have the ability to lift (up to 35 pounds), bend, stoop, and reach; lift and carry equipment and supplies; constantly walking and standing for long periods (up to 4 hours) and ability to work in a fast-paced environment; walking over uneven ground and up and down stairs to service guests with or without reasonable accommodation.
