Lead Backup Engineer

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Backup Engineer to lead the administration, optimization, and support of enterprise backup and recovery solutions. This role will be responsible for developing and maintaining backup strategies across both on-premises and cloud environments while ensuring the reliability, availability, and recoverability of critical business systems and data.

Position Description

• Lead the administration, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise backup and recovery environments.
• Design, implement, and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Manage and support Rubrik Enterprise Backup and Recovery solutions.
• Develop and maintain backup policies and recovery procedures for:
  • VMware vSphere environments
  • Windows Server environments
  • Linux Server environments
  • Microsoft SQL Server databases
  • Oracle databases
• Support data protection initiatives across on-premises and cloud infrastructures.
• Perform backup monitoring, validation, testing, and recovery exercises.
• Troubleshoot backup failures, performance issues, and recovery challenges.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventative measures.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, storage, database, Windows, Linux, and application teams to ensure data protection requirements are met.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of hands-on Rubrik administration experience
• 7+ years of enterprise backup administration experience
• Expert-level knowledge of Rubrik Enterprise Backup and Recovery
• Strong experience developing and implementing backup and recovery strategies
• Experience supporting:
  • VMware vSphere
  • Windows Servers
  • Linux Servers
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Oracle Databases
• Experience supporting both on-premises and cloud environments
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root cause analysis skills
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities

Bonus Skills

• Experience leading backup or infrastructure initiatives in large enterprise environments
• Exposure to storage administration and disaster recovery planning
• Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure technologies and data protection best practices

Location: Newtown Square, PA – mainly remote but must be commutable to Newtown Square, PA for mandatory meetings (ideally no more than a 1-2 hour commuting radius)
