Lead Backend Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs that support data-intensive applications, real-time processing, and AI-driven solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong experience building distributed systems, cloud-native applications, and high-performance APIs while providing technical leadership on large-scale initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs.
• Build and optimize real-time data services that support AI/ML and predictive analytics platforms.
• Develop microservices-based applications using modern backend technologies.
• Collaborate with architects, data engineers, and product teams to deliver scalable solutions.
• Design and implement cloud-native applications using containerized environments.
• Ensure high availability, performance, security, and reliability of backend systems.
• Participate in architecture discussions and provide technical leadership for complex projects.
• Implement and support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
• Optimize database performance and data integration processes.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend development.
• Strong programming experience in JAVA, Python, or Golang.
• Experience building scalable APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift (OpenShift preferred).
• Experience working in Linux environments.
• Strong understanding of API design, performance tuning, and system scalability.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven experience leading projects and contributing to architectural decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with JAVA Microservice.
• Experience with BigQuery and/or BigTable.
• Experience with MongoDB and Redis.
• Exposure to AI/ML platforms, predictive analytics, or data engineering solutions.
• Experience with React JS and Rust or C++ is a plus.
• Prior experience leading technical teams or mentoring engineers.
