Lead Backend Engineer
About the Role
You will design and build quality solutions aligned with the technology blueprint and standard processes. By leveraging business knowledge, you will translate divisional initiatives into sophisticated software applications and conduct studies of alternatives. You will work closely with architects to shape design strategy and collaborate with developers to ensure high-quality results. Additionally, you will analyze and recommend changes to project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies.
Responsibilities
- Develop Java and messaging-based applications using Spring and Spring Boot.
- Design and implement multi-layer architecture solutions using Java/J2EE.
- Work with Cloud technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and Azure.
- Implement continuous delivery processes and tools (GitHub, Jenkins, uDeploy, Stash).
- Develop and optimize relational databases, SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures, and transactional SQL within DB2/Oracle.
- Apply expertise in GIT and branching strategies.
- Resolve technical roadblocks involving multiple technologies.
- Ensure effectiveness of code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing.
- Coordinate delivery of technical components across internal and external teams.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior team members.
- Contribute to process-improvement initiatives to enhance team velocity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology, or Information Systems.
- 10+ years of hands-on technical experience.
- Strong experience in the financial services industry, preferably in Asset Management Technology with exposure to Alternative Investing (Derivatives, Liquid Alts, Private Equity).
- Project and people management experience is a plus.
Skills
- Key Skills:
- 10+ years developing Java and messaging-based applications.
- Proficient in Spring and Spring Boot.
- Hands-on experience with API design and multi-layer architecture using Java/J2EE.
- Experience with Cloud technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure).
- Knowledge of CD processes and tools (GitHub, Jenkins, uDeploy, Stash).
- Strong understanding of relational databases, SQL, and ORM technologies (JPA2, Hibernate).
- Expertise in REST API and microservices design.
- Experience designing database schemas, PL/SQL, and stored procedures in DB2/Oracle.
- Proficiency in GIT and branching strategies.
- Strong problem-solving skills to resolve technical roadblocks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to mentor junior team members.
- Good-to-Have Skills:
- High productivity in Agile project delivery teams.
- Experience collaborating with DevOps engineering on CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, uDeploy, Sonar).
- Familiarity with application resiliency procedures (HP Operations Orchestration).
- Process management using HP Service Manager and ServiceNow.
- Ability to maintain positive relationships with business partners.

Our team provides accounting and investment management support services for mutual funds and other retail and institutional investment products. Responsibilities include calculating and distributing NAVs, distribution rates, and yields; preparing fund financial statements, dividend estimates, and tax returns; supervising fund trades; processing corporate actions; collecting securities income; balancing, reporting, and moving money for fund shareholder transactions; and leading fund liquidity.
Location
This role is based in Westlake, TX or Merrimack, NH and requires onsite participation.
Pay
The base compensation range for this role in the posted locations is $86,129 to $127,189. Capgemini provides this range in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws. The actual compensation offered may vary based on factors such as geographic location, education, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, market considerations, and internal pay equity. This role may also be eligible for additional compensation, such as variable incentives, bonuses, or commissions, depending on the position and applicable laws.
