We offer all the standard benefits, including health and dental, paid time off, 401k with company match and a great working environment filled with energetic, team-oriented people.

Summary

Casaplex is seeking an elite, hands-on Lead AV Technician to drive the on-site installation, integration, configuration, and commissioning of our high-end commercial and premium residential systems. This role serves as the primary technical anchor in the field, providing active, on-site installation work as the cornerstone technician, on-site project guidance, and mentorship for installation crews and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

The Lead Technician ensures flawless execution of engineering design specifications by maintaining elite craftsmanship standards, strict site hygiene, and efficient project velocity. Working closely with project managers, engineers, and programmers, and technicians, you will deliver sophisticated integrated technology solutions—including advanced audio/video, video teleconferencing, automated lighting, robust networking, and security platforms.

  • Field Leadership & Crew Coordination: Lead and Mentor Field Crews, provide direct, hands-on leadership to installation technicians on-site, serving as the technical anchor to ensure deployment matches engineering specifications.
  • Daily Site Briefings: Conduct daily morning crew huddles to clearly establish site expectations, map out baseline task sequences, and assign secondary objectives to completely eliminate field downtime.
  • Technical Coaching: Foster an open, collaborative site culture where junior technicians are encouraged to ask questions, learn best practices, and address installation mistakes transparently.
  • On-Site Troubleshooting: Actively drive project momentum by providing real-time, technical troubleshooting when team members encounter unexpected structural or hardware obstacles.
  • Technical Execution & Installation Standards: Read, interpret, and execute complex AV engineering schematics, architectural blueprints, structural drawings, and floor plans.
  • Precision Installation: Oversee and perform the structural mounting of displays, projectors, smart boards, architectural lighting components, surveillance cameras, and automated window treatments.
  • Rack Building & Cable Management: Fabricate, wire, and dress equipment racks to pristine corporate and residential standards, utilizing industry-best termination and labeling practices.
  • Infrastructure Validation: Strictly enforce the "installation-before-commissioning" workflow, ensuring all gear is 100% physically mounted, cleanly dressed, accurately labeled, and powered on before initiating any system configuration or software deployment.
  • System Commissioning & Diagnostic Testing: Perform comprehensive system testing, fine-tuning, and quality assurance verification for integrated environments, including matrix switchers, network switches, and audio DSPs.
  • UCaaS Deployment: Configure and deploy modern Unified Communications platforms, including Zoom Rooms and Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR), alongside modular hardware integrations (Crestron, Logitech, etc.).
  • Advanced Diagnostics: Utilize advanced copper, fiber, and network verification tools—specifically the Fluke Versiv / DSX-8000 cable certification suite—to thoroughly validate infrastructure integrity and troubleshoot signal flow.
  • Site Hygiene, Scheduling & Client Experience: Enforce strict property protection guardrails, ensuring the crew proactively deploys drop cloths, cleans up drywall dust immediately after drilling, and removes all empty boxes and debris daily.
  • Schedule Adherence: Strictly manage job site arrival and daily milestones (typically starting at 8:00 AM) to maintain project velocity and guarantee that residential field crews fully exit client properties by 7:00 PM at the latest out of respect for customer privacy.
  • Professional Interface: Act as the primary technical point of contact on the job site, interfacing professionally with clients, general contractors, interior designers, and MEP trades to represent the company values.
  • Project Documentation: Accurately document and communicate daily site progress, completing field logs, tracking change order requirements, noting redline schematic adjustments, and submitting relevant site progress and requirement information to the Project Manager.

Requirements

  • Field Leadership Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in commercial or high-end residential audiovisual installation, with at least 1–2 years in a dedicated on-site lead or supervisory role.
  • Hands-On Leadership Style: Proven ability to actively drive field installation execution and provide real-time, in-the-trenches technical troubleshooting rather than managing solely from an administrative perspective.
  • Team Development: Experience assessing field crew capabilities, mapping out efficient task sequences, and mentoring junior technicians in proper termination, mounting, and cable-dressing techniques.
  • AVIXA Certification: Active AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) credential required. CTS-I (Installation) certification is highly preferred.
  • Manufacturer Training: Documented certifications or formal training with tier-one AV ecosystems (e.g., Crestron, Biamp, Q-SYS, Lutron, or Extron) is heavily preferred.
  • Technical Competencies: Proficiency utilizing advanced copper, fiber, and network verification tools—specifically the Fluke Versiv / DSX-8000 cable certification suite—to validate infrastructure and troubleshoot signal flow.
  • Modern UCaaS Platforms: Fluency deploying and configuring modern unified communications architecture, including Zoom Rooms and Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR), alongside modular hardware integrations (e.g., Crestron Flex, DTEN).
  • Specialized Systems Knowledge: Familiarity or hands-on integration experience with specialized platforms including Crestron HomeOS, Crestron Lighting (D3 Pro), Biamp Tesira DSPs, Axis surveillance, and 2N intercom systems.
  • Documentation & Blueprints: Expert-level ability to read, interpret, and accurately redline structural blueprints, architectural line drawings, and complex AV engineering schematics.
  • Logistical & Physical Requirements: Strict commitment to standard field schedules (typically starting at 8:00 AM) and the ability to maintain the on-site pace necessary to respect client property boundaries.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs, work comfortably on ladders and scaffolding, and operate basic power tools safely.
  • Professional Conduct: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a clean and professional appearance suited for luxury residential and corporate environments, and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Occasional Travel: Flexibility to travel occasionally to regional job sites, satellite offices, or manufacturer training events as dictated by project scheduling and deployment needs.
