Lead AV Technician
We are partnering with a well-established custom integration company serving Southern California for more than 16 years. Built by an industry veteran with over 27 years of experience, this growing organization specializes in high-end residential technology solutions including home automation, networking, AV, lighting control, and motorized shading. Position Overview
This is not a crew lead position—you'll primarily operate on your own, taking ownership of projects, solving problems independently, and ensuring every installation meets the company's high standards. The ideal candidate is technically confident, customer-focused, organized, and motivated to continue learning as new technologies are introduced.
Responsibilities
- Independently install, configure, and commission residential AV and automation systems
- Program and troubleshoot Savant systems (or quickly become proficient through company-supported training)
- Configure networking equipment and integrated home technology systems
- Complete final system testing, commissioning, and client handoff
- Troubleshoot complex field issues and resolve them efficiently
- Document completed work using company software, including accurate time tracking and job notes
- Cook up coordination with project managers and warehouse staff to ensure projects remain on schedule
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment
- Stay current on emerging technologies including lighting control, motorized shading, networking, and automation platforms
- Provide occasional mentorship to junior technicians when appropriate

- Several years of experience installing high-end residential AV or home automation systems
- Ability to independently manage projects from start to finish
- Strong networking knowledge
- Experience programming or commissioning residential control systems
