Serving as a Lead Athletic Trainer for Cognito Systems within the Army’s Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) program at Fort Leonard Wood, you will play a pivotal role in driving significant improvements in soldier health and performance. Your responsibilities include:
- Leading the Injury Control Director in basic acute care, injury control, reconditioning, and performance optimization.
- Coordinating with the H2F Strength and Conditioning team, Fitness Trainers, and Brigade Command Sergeant Major to support unit training programs.
- Ensuring educational and instructional materials are aligned with the Brigade training calendar.
- Providing an overview briefing for new Soldiers, covering services offered, reasons to seek AT services, and availability details.
- Maintaining safe and efficient equipment operation and supply tracking, reporting any issues to the Brigade Program Director.
- Completing monthly status reports, emphasizing recommendations, best practices, and lessons learned.
- Attending and participating in meetings with Brigade leadership as requested.
- Preparing and submitting reports as directed by the Brigade Program Director and Injury Control Director/clinical supervisor.
- Collaborating with other H2F Performance Team members and medical personnel as needed.
- Ensuring timely completion of documentation, Monthly Status Reports, peer reviews, and other required forms.
- Participating in H2F Program reviews to share best practices and suggest improvements.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for Cognito Systems, relaying necessary information to the Project Manager.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities
To meet the minimum requirements for this role, you must have:
- A Bachelor’s degree from a CAATE-accredited institution, preferably in a related field like Exercise Science or Kinesiology.
- A Master’s degree in a related field, also from an accredited university.
- A passing score on the Board of Certification (BOC) exam for Athletic Trainers.
- A valid National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- An unrestricted state license or certification in Athletic Training, applicable to the 49 regulated states, DC, or the US territories.
- At least five years of relevant Athletic Training experience, including working with active populations such as military, high school, collegiate, professional sports, and others.
Minimum Requirements
Additional qualifications include:
- U.S. Citizenship.
- The ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
- A current physical examination and immunizations.
Duties and Physical Demands
The role requires adaptability in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You must be able to lift up to 45 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions. The position demands hands-on interaction with soldiers during training and recovery.
