Lead /Architect Azure DevOps Engineer

Location: FULLY REMOTE. Duration: 12+ MONTHS. Interview process: 2 rounds (onsite 2nd round at location closest to candidate).

Responsibilities

• Lead organization through transition from manual software delivery to automated CI/CD.
• Design enterprise-level reusable pipeline frameworks and templates.
• Integrate automated testing, code-quality scanning, security scanning, and approval workflows into CI/CD pipelines.
• Apply DevSecOps principles and deployment governance.
• Deploy applications or infrastructure into Microsoft Azure.
• Develop scripts and automation using PowerShell, Bash, Azure CLI, or Python.
• Manage infrastructure, application deployment, networking, identity, security, and environment.
• Collaborate across multiple development teams to establish organization-wide technical standards.
• Communicate architectural concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Provide documentation, leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management.

Requirements

• 10+ years overall IT/software engineering experience, with significant DevOps, cloud, or platform engineering experience.
• 5+ years deep hands-on Azure DevOps experience.
• Proven experience as Senior DevOps Architect, Azure DevOps Architect, Platform Architect, or Lead DevOps Engineer.
• Demonstrated experience leading transition from manual to automated CI/CD.
• Advanced experience with Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines, YAML pipelines, Azure Boards, Azure Repos/Git, CI/CD architecture, build/release automation, branching/source-control strategies.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure, application deployment, networking, identity, security, and environment management.
• Experience with scripting/automation using PowerShell, Bash, Azure CLI, or Python.
• Ability to work across teams and establish technical standards.
• Strong communication, documentation, leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder-management skills.

Qualifications

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates).
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Experience implementing automated testing within CI/CD workflows.
• Familiarity with SonarQube, Snyk, Checkmarx, Veracode, or similar code-quality/security tools.
• Experience with Azure Key Vault and secrets-management strategies.
• Experience implementing GitOps or modern platform-engineering practices.
• Microsoft Azure or Azure DevOps certifications.
• Previous experience leading a DevOps transformation within a large enterprise, consulting, government, or public-sector environment.
