About the role

The Utah Division of Licensing and Background Checks is seeking a Background Processing Lead Analyst to join their team. This role involves conducting background checks, interpreting statutes and rules, and handling appeals.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct background checks and determine approval or denial of applicants for licenses or employment with licensed/certified programs.
  • Interpret statute and rules; maintain confidentiality according to guidelines set by the Department of Public Safety and FBI.
  • Serve agencies contracted, certified, or licensed with the Division of Services for People with Disabilities (DSPD).
  • Respond to questions from providers or applicants in writing and over the phone, explaining actions taken.
  • Handle denial letters and appeals, including representing the office in administrative appeals.
  • Train and ensure team members adhere to processes and policies.
  • Provide excellent customer service, review and maintain accurate records, and provide backup and training for the team.

Preferred or Trainable/on-the-job Qualifications

  • Interpreting Legal and Regulatory Requirements: Ability to understand and apply statutes, rules, and regulations.
  • Following Policies & Procedures: Ability to adhere to organizational guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Handling Sensitive Information: Ability to manage confidential data and records.
  • Organizing: Ability to maintain accurate records and logs.

Supplemental Information

Effective July 1, 2021, State of Utah employees must reside in Utah or be in the process of relocating to within 30 days of their start date. A criminal history check and drug test are required. Special physical demands are not required, but there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, driving an automobile, etc.
