Responsibilities
- Lead a team of technicians to produce timely, high-quality, accurate results.
- Utilize strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with a technical orientation.
- Direct manpower and project flow; prioritize getting the job done right.
- Lead the team to complete necessary jobs/tasks, using good judgment on day-to-day tasks and knowing when to involve management.
- Implement strong shift turnover and look for opportunities to reduce aircraft turn time.
- Train and mentor assigned technicians; supervise daily workload.
- Work independently and lead multiple projects with a focus on schedule and quality.
- Perform general mechanical functions on aircraft and related systems, including removal/installation of panels and components, repair work, and sheet metal repair/installation.
- Troubleshoot and evaluate aircraft systems when designated.
- Inspect and evaluate aircraft and components when designated.
- Conduct aircraft movement, performance runs, and taxiing when required.
- Maintain shop facility, equipment, and tooling to support operations.
- Work with customers in project management, pricing, and customer support roles.
- Communicate effectively in English.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and Airframe and Powerplant License required.
- Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or valid passport preferred but not mandatory.
- Aircraft-specific factory training preferred.
- 8+ years in aviation maintenance preferred; 4+ years in program-specific airframes.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and lead small groups in daily tasks.
- Self-motivated team player able to perform in a fast-paced environment with specific deadlines and time constraints.
- Reliable transportation to get to work each day.
- Must perform all work in accordance with FAA guidelines and follow company and safety rules.
- Must maintain customer-oriented work habits.
- Ability to direct the work and flow of multiple projects and supervise team members in daily operations.
- Ability to complete work orders and FAA paperwork.
Physical Requirements
- Lift at least 50 lbs.
- Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting.
- Repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
- Basic personal computer operations.
Mental Requirements
- Understand and implement regulations and guidelines.
- Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.
- Work with others in a professional manner.
- Coordinate projects and manage teams.
Working Conditions
- Majority of work in a hangar environment with exposure to very hot or very cold temperatures.
- Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.
- Varied positions in and around the aircraft.
Equipment Used
- Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
- Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
- Jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices.
- Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment.
- Personal computer and work order prints.
Compensation
The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $38.00 – $69.00. Actual hourly rate will vary based on location, experience, and performance. Additional compensation in the form of a shift differential will be provided if assigned to an alternate shift. Other forms of compensation include a semi-annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match, and employer contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA).
