About the role

Lead Aircraft Deicer at Cedar Rapids Airport. This position is a subject-matter expert who coaches, motivates, and guides operational work performed by peers. Leads monitor and report any extraordinary performance or deviations from operational standards. The primary role is to remove ice from aircraft, inspect for remaining frozen contamination, and apply deicing fluid (typically glycol).

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe environment during de/anti-icing operations and compliance with all company policies and procedures.
• Perform de/anti-icing duties according to procedures for airlines and IDS, including inspecting aircraft for frozen contamination.
• Participate in pre-planning for de/anti-icing events, including equipment checks, fueling, and glycol servicing.
• Ensure proper shutdown of pads, including completing paperwork, log books, and reporting maintenance issues.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Must read, write, understand, and carry out instructions in English.
• Must verbally direct in English.
• Ability to interact professionally with all levels of employees and client representatives.
• Successful completion of IDS classroom and on-the-job de-/anti-icing training.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain and maintain security clearances required by Transport Canada, TSA, or local Airport Authorities.
• Ability to pass pre-employment background screenings.

Work Environment

Prolonged periods of standing with exposure to prevalent weather, dust, dirt, fuel, fumes, and noise, in or around heavy equipment and moving vehicles.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to squat, stoop, kneel, bend, stretch, crawl, climb ladders, and/or work at heights in excess of 15 feet.
• Must be able to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
• Able to speak and hear efficiently.

Pay

$23/hour.

Schedule

This is a part-time seasonal position. No travel is anticipated.
