Lead Accountant/Supervisor
On115-120k base salary, plus discretionary bonus and profit-sharing. Medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) retirement plan included. Range may vary based on location and experience.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Accountant to support a high-volume accounting environment and serve as a key contributor to the month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliation, and inventory accounting processes. This role partners closely with FP&A, operations, supply chain, and senior leadership to ensure accurate financial results, analyze business performance, and drive process improvements. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong general ledger expertise, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple functions.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
- Prepare, review, and analyze journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
- Manage and analyze inventory accounting transactions and related reporting.
- Review accounting work prepared by team members and provide guidance on accounting matters.
- Partner with FP&A and operational teams to explain financial results, forecast variances, and business trends.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies, operational issues, and financial reporting questions.
- Analyze actual results against forecasts, budgets, and prior periods.
- Assist with process improvement initiatives and accounting system enhancements.
- Support internal and external audit requests and ensure compliance with company accounting policies.
- Prepare various management reports and ad hoc financial analyses as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong general ledger and financial reporting experience.
- Experience with inventory accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact across finance, operations, and leadership teams.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with SAP or similar large ERP platforms preferred.
- CPA designation preferred but not required.

- Experience within large corporate environments.
- Exposure to manufacturing, distribution, energy, logistics, or inventory-intensive industries.
- Experience reviewing the work of other accountants or serving as a lead resource on a team.
