LC HSE Intern - Safety

A Safety Intern may be assigned to Safety Engineering, Safety Management, Emergency Preparedness, Industrial Hygiene, Employee Health, and Contractor Safety, working with business unit safety professionals and operations to implement, update, and improve the safety management system.

Responsibilities

• Assist in field surveys/audits of business unit operations
• Assist in the development and implementation of processes for tracking and analyzing HSE data to expand trending and reporting capabilities, helping identify improvement opportunities
• Develop HSE posters, HSE moments, HSE flashes, and other HSE‑related training materials
• Assist in improvement initiatives around contractor HSE incident management and utilization of ISNetworld
• Enter data into a central database
• Provide support for facility HSE Committee(s) / Team(s)
• Participate in HSE Management Systems review or facility's self‑assessments
• Perform special projects as requested

Requirements

• Full‑time student pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology, Safety, Occupational Health, Emergency Preparedness, or Public Health
• Completed 30 semester hours in the above topics
• Overall GPA of 3.0 or above
• Valid driver's license
• Eligibility to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card as required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act

Schedule

The position is available for Spring, Summer, or Fall 2027. A 9/80 work schedule option may be offered where applicable, and remote work options are available for eligible positions.
