About the Role

We are looking for hardworking individuals to roll layers of fiberglass and resin onto hulls and decks. This includes using rollers, brushes, and a fiberglass gun, inserting metal reinforcement pieces, light sanding and grinding, and other assigned duties.

This is a first shift position with hours from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. Passing a respirator fit test, wearing a respirator, and being clean shaven are required. All positions are safety sensitive, and candidates will be asked to submit to drug testing and a respirator evaluation test.

Responsibilities

• Identify different hulls and decks for lamination.
• Use rollers, brushes, and a fiberglass gun to apply fiberglass and resin.
• Eliminate bubbles in fiberglass after application.
• Follow instructions from supervisors, foremen, or leads.
• Use small hand tools such as scissors and razor knives.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Perform light sanding and grinding of parts as needed.
• Inspect parts to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Work with a team to complete daily tasks.
• Perform other duties, assignments, and responsibilities as needed.
• Be flexible and willing to cross-train within the department.

Requirements

• Ability to use and maintain a variety of hand tools.
• Knowledge of composites and basic installations.
• Understanding of production processes and quality control.
• Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside temperatures.
• Must be able to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods.
• Must be able to push/pull boat rails, hulls, and other pieces as necessary.
• Must be able to climb into and out of the interior of boats.
• Must be able to wear proper safety equipment, including a respirator when necessary.
• Must be able to lift 75 pounds when necessary.

Tools and Equipment

• Personal Protective Equipment: Safety glasses, half-mask respirator, Tyvek protection suit.
• Hand Tools: Rollers, fiberglass chop gun, grinders, sanders, and scissors.
• Work directly with fiberglass and resin.
• Wash tank chemicals (S280/Super Blue) for cleaning hands and brushes.
