About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Manufacturing / Layout Engineer to design, optimize, and maintain high-performing assembly workstations. You will develop 2D and 3D station layouts, select key assembly tooling, collaborate on line balancing, and drive lean continuous improvement initiatives to support efficient and safe manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Workstation & Layout Design:
    • Develop and maintain 2D and 3D workstation layouts using AutoCAD or Microstation, aligning with production flow and plant constraints.
    • Ensure tooling and equipment integration within each station aligns with the overall line layout.
    • Maintain accurate station documentation, drawing revisions, and design change logs.
  • Tooling & Process Engineering:
    • Identify and specify fixtures, jigs, tooling, and assembly aids that support quality, ergonomics, and manufacturability.
    • Collaborate with Launch Industrial Engineers to balance line workloads and confirm station cycle times meet target takt times.
    • Participate in pilot builds and process validation to verify layout accuracy and resolve design issues.
  • Continuous Improvement & Quality:
    • Apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve operational efficiency.
    • Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on ergonomics, productivity, and space utilization.
    • Support updates to PFMEA documentation, work instructions, and tooling layouts as engineering changes are implemented.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Technology (or equivalent industry experience).

Skills

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD (and/or Microstation).
  • Working knowledge of ergonomics, workstation design, lean manufacturing, and tooling integration.
  • Understanding of automation, robotics, or material handling systems used in modern assembly operations.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Strong problem-solving ability with high attention to detail.
