About the role
TWG is an established player in animal nutrition and feeds, holding over 80% share of protein production in its footprint. This strategic leadership role focuses on the Layer producer segment, assisting the Director of Nutrition Services to establish a competitive edge through nutrition advisory, leadership, and technical services. The position demands a deep understanding of poultry nutrition and its value in layer production systems.
Responsibilities
- Poultry Nutrition Advisory & Leadership – 50%
- Lead the positioning of Wenger Poultry Nutrition programs as the first-choice solution for layer producers by identifying key deliverables, analyzing gaps, developing custom nutrition programs, and demonstrating results in a commercial environment.
- Serve as the poultry nutrition knowledge base and techno-commercial interface with producers, analyzing economic parameters of protein production and developing complex solutions with justifiable ROI.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop a Profitability Modeling Tool for predicting and tracking production, conversion, and economic metrics of poultry genetics, using it as an engagement tool for customer acquisition and retention.
- Monitor local and global resources to stay updated on layer nutrition and egg quality advancements, implementing new technologies to enhance performance and margins.
- Maintain market intelligence on production metrics and competitive landscape for nutrition services.
- Assist Marketing and Central Training functions with technical publications, product development, and industry event materials.
- Support the Wenger Animal Nutrition Academy (WANA) in upskilling team members on poultry nutrition.
- Poultry Nutrition Research – 10%
- Collaborate with Innovation & Research, Laboratory, and Formulations teams to develop and test new programs for enhanced ROI through exploratory, applied, and field research trials.
- Work with Formulations and Procurement to deliver cost-effective formulations and alternative rations during ingredient shortages.
- Assist Procurement in identifying strategic ingredients, managing specifications, quality, and costs for best-cost sourcing and pricing, and forecasting ingredient projections.
- Poultry Technical Support Services – 40%
- Establish standards aligned with customer goals, gathering and analyzing data to review with producers through farm visits, training, and participation in production review meetings.
- Collaborate with Relationship Managers to develop strategies for untapped opportunities in the geography.
- Leverage in-house resources (Profitability Modeling tools, formulations support, quality control, and nutrition laboratory) to position Wenger’s differentiators effectively with customers.
- Investigate and resolve customer non-conformances related to nutrition programs, feed quality, and new technology applications.
- Provide technical support and training to Relationship Managers and participate actively in the sales process.
- Represent TWG at industry events, maintain high-level contacts with key influencers, and contribute to media with technical and scientific articles to elevate the company’s reputation.
Requirements
- PhD in animal nutrition or animal sciences, specialized in poultry (layer-specific).
- 3 to 7 years of hands-on experience in developing and delivering large-scale, multi-location nutrition services in an integrated or commercial feed setting.
- Proficiency in feed formulation software, live production applications, and interfacing with customer service, feed mill, and finance systems.
- Ability to translate technical knowledge into solutions for complex problems and communicate analytical data to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills to address conflicts, influence behavioral change, and collaborate across all organizational levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.
- Strong presentation and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work full-time at the corporate headquarters in Lancaster, PA.
