About the role
Under general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the registered nurse uses the nursing process to safely coordinate total patient care and education for an assigned number of patients. Patient assignments are determined by patient census and current staffing levels for the overall patient care units. Assignments to other patient care units are established by census and staff levels, reviewed on a shift-to-shift basis.
As determined by the Nurse Manager, the nurse will be assigned up to 40 hours per week and will rotate between day and night shifts according to the needs of the unit and staff. The nurse is expected to function within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department and organization.
Responsibilities
- Assist with orientation, preceptorship, and management of personnel assigned to the unit.
- Work and relate in a professional, non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors.
- Document total care given, review and maintain patient charts per policy.
- Assist with accurate and timely entry of patient data, orders, and charges into the computer system.
- Pass a pharmacology test for this position.
- Attend yearly mandatory education requirements; responsibility of the employee to arrange and attend sessions.
- Work under the general supervision of the Ambulance Dept Head, using the Pre-Hospital and ACLS Process.
