About the Role
The Service Leader is responsible for providing lawn care, aeration and seeding, tree and shrub care, and other services sold by Virginia Green. They apply fertilizer, insecticides, fungicides, and herbicides using hand and powered equipment.
Responsibilities
- Work individually or with a crew to provide services to assigned properties.
- Apply fertilizer, fungicides, herbicides, and perform aeration and seeding for pest and weed control in lawns.
- Comply with all state and federal regulations, company policies, and Virginia Department of Agricultural guidelines.
- Manage routes using the company’s Mobile Device Management system.
- Perform thorough inspections and evaluations of customer properties; provide agronomic advice to address service issues.
- Interact with customers to address concerns and existing conditions.
- Sell additional services to existing and prospective customers.
- Conduct final inspections to ensure work is completed correctly and granular products are blown off hard surfaces.
- Document services accurately using mobile technology.
- Maintain company vehicles and equipment per guidelines.
- Assist with training new service leaders.
- Maintain facility and grounds cleanliness.
- Adhere to PPE and safety regulations; maintain a neat and clean appearance.
Aeration and Seeding Crew Leader Duties
- Aerate and seed lawns in accordance with Virginia Green procedures.
- Manage crew and safely transport equipment to job sites.
- Ensure all work is completed neatly and efficiently.
- Perform final inspections to confirm work is done correctly and properties are tidy.
Requirements
- Obtain a VDACS Registered Technician certificate within 30 days of hire (training and fees provided by Virginia Green).
- Ability to navigate a truck and trailer.
- Availability to work from August to the end of October.
- Ability to work between 6:30 AM and 5:30 PM (or until the job is finished).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Operate company vehicles in compliance with federal, state, and local laws; maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Driving record must pass insurability test.
- Ability to drive long distances or an eight- to nine-hour shift.
- Must be 20 years of age or older (21 for DOT).
- Minimum of 3 years of driving experience (any vehicle).
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 0-2 years of related experience in a customer service environment (lawn care experience preferred).
- Ability to analyze situations and determine appropriate resolutions.
Physical Requirements
- Standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, pushing, lifting, and carrying objects up to 50 pounds.
- Walking long distances in all weather conditions.
