LAWA Construction Manager IV T7, T8
Pacific Pros is seeking a Construction Manager IV to serve as the Owner's representative for Los Angeles World Airport (LAWA) Terminal 7 and Terminal 8 Refresh Project. This role reports to the Terminal 7 / Terminal 8 Project Manager and is responsible for managing and coordinating construction activities, acting as the liaison for pre-construction and construction phases, and leading safety, security, and quality for the Program.
About the role
The Terminal 7 and 8 Refresh Project includes a series of improvements aimed at enhancing resiliency, sustainability, and the overall user experience. Key scope components involve interior renovations, aircraft apron pavement rehabilitation, concessions enabling, and other supporting enhancements.
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Los Angeles, CA, with work primarily at LAX. The role requires local availability and the ability to transit between project sites. After-hours or weekend work may be required as part of the position.
Responsibilities
- Monitor all on-site field construction activities associated with project completion.
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of construction disciplines, methods, and installation techniques.
- Ensure construction operations follow approved work plans, Area Shutdown Requests (ASRs), and proper notifications.
- Become thoroughly familiar with contractual obligations and technical aspects of all facilities.
- Ensure all work is performed and inspected in accordance with the latest plans, specifications, approved changes, submittals, and RFIs.
- Collaborate with the Design/Builder and stakeholders to develop construction planning and identify critical milestones.
- Monitor budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule.
- Assign manpower, materials, and equipment to maximize efficiency, maintain schedules, and meet budget goals.
- Identify potential problem areas and take preventive action to ensure critical milestones are met.
- Ensure the use of sound and safe construction practices to achieve quality control at maximum efficiency and minimum cost.
- Prepare periodic reports summarizing progress of construction activities for senior management and clients.
- Ensure effective implementation of all policies and procedures, including project labor agreement policies.
- Contribute to the advancement of goals through productive collaboration with all stakeholders.
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as appropriate.
- Participate in coordination meetings with the Design/Builder, trade partners, stakeholders, LAWA Operations, and others.
- Review contractor potential change order claims for merit and negotiate to final resolution.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience, preferably on airport projects.
- Experience with projects valued at more than $100 million.
- Experience with various delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, Design+CMAR, and Design/Build.
- Proven ability to perform in a management capacity.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Aviation, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, or other related technical field (required).
- Master’s degree (preferred).
- Optional certifications/licensure may include AAAE, LEED, PE, AIA, PMP, AICP, or other relevant professional licensure.
Submitted experience should emphasize airport concourse scope, airport headhouse scope, or site/civil scope. Multiple positions are anticipated.
