About the role
The Law Offices of James L. Arrasmith is seeking a Law Firm HR Specialist to assist with daily HR tasks. This role involves hands-on work and does not require managerial oversight.
Responsibilities
- Help with recruiting, posting jobs, reviewing resumes, managing candidate tracking, and scheduling interviews.
- Communicate with candidates during the hiring process.
- Onboard new attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, intake staff, administrative staff, and contractors.
- Track onboarding tasks, training assignments, system access, and policy acknowledgments.
- Maintain HR records, including offer letters, onboarding documents, attendance records, training records, HR notices, and offboarding records.
- Track attendance and timekeeping issues, such as absences, sick days, late arrivals, missed shifts, and schedule changes.
- Prepare HR trackers, spreadsheets, summaries, and routine documentation.
- Serve as a professional point of contact for HR inquiries.
- Document employee concerns and escalate sensitive issues to the appropriate leader.
- Support offboarding processes, including equipment return, access removal, and separation documentation.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in all HR matters.
Requirements
- Prior HR, recruiting, onboarding, administrative, or law firm operations experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good organization and follow-through.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to document issues clearly and professionally.
- Good judgment on escalating issues.
- Comfort working with attorneys, legal staff, administrative staff, contractors, and remote workers.
- Experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Slack, ADP, Deel, or similar systems.
- Knowledge of California workplace documentation and compliance concepts.
Qualifications
- Law firm or legal office experience is preferred.
- Comfort using email, spreadsheets, Slack or similar messaging tools, HR systems, and document-management tools.

- Clear communication with attorneys, staff, candidates, and remote workers.
- Professionalism and confidentiality.
- Confidence in handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
Benefits
Compensation will vary based on experience, qualifications, and the final scope of responsibilities. The base pay range for this role is $19 – $26 per hour.
