Law Enforcement Officer
About the role
The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia seeks a Federal Reserve Law Enforcement Officer to protect and safeguard the Bank's premises, property, personnel, assets, and operations. The successful candidate will enforce federal laws, respond to emergencies, and maintain law enforcement and life safety systems.
Responsibilities
- Enforce federal laws and regulations.
- Protect and safeguard lives, property, and Bank operations.
- Respond to disturbances and emergencies, including potentially life-threatening situations.
- Control access to Bank and high-security areas, inspect individuals, property, and vehicles.
- Perform interior and exterior patrols, conduct welfare checks, and provide escorts.
- Handle routine law enforcement calls, prepare detailed incident reports, and assist in emergency procedures.
- Operate and monitor Bank Law Enforcement and life safety systems.
- Communicate through the Video Surveillance System and Access Control System.
- Operate Law Enforcement motor vehicles equipped with emergency equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field desirable.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Valid driver's license.
- Medical and psychological examinations.
- Background checks.
- Completion of the Federal Reserve System's (FRS) Basic Law Enforcement Course (BLEC).
- Continuing in-service law enforcement training and weapons qualifications.
- Random drug testing.
- Maintain Federal Reserve Law Enforcement Officer status.
- Successfully complete probationary and time-in-grade periods.
- Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Solid judgment and effective task performance in emergency situations.
- Basic written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.

Pay
The salary grade for this position is 9. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant's background, experience, and skills, and internal equity and market data.
Schedule
This position requires regular contact with Bank customers, employees, and the general public. Employees may be required to routinely perform duties outside of the Bank's buildings, work overtime, and be available for holiday, weekend, and shift work. Overtime work may include unscheduled overtime due to unanticipated staffing shortages from unscheduled absences or operational necessity, such as heightened Law Enforcement alerts.
Physical Requirements
- Bending, balancing, carrying minimum 18 lbs., moving a simulated victim/disabled person a reasonable distance, walking/run at a rapid pace, responding to law enforcement activities and emergency situations, enduring exposure to stress-producing situations, climbing, grasping/gripping, hearing (no loss greater than 30dB at 500, 1000, 2000; or 40 dB at 3000 and 4000), kneeling/crouching, lifting minimum 50 lbs., reaching, seeing (corrected visual acuity at least 20/30 with both eyes corrected or uncorrected), vision must be able to be corrected to at least 20/100 in the worst eye, sitting, speaking/talking, standing up to 90 minutes continuously, walking up to 60 minutes continuously, inspecting, using dexterity/coordination, and operating various equipment.
