About the role

Allied Universal® is hiring a Law Enforcement Officer - Armed- Airport. This role serves and helps safeguard the airport, its facilities, its travelers, and airport operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Exercise sound judgment and render immediate, appropriate decisions, under stressful conditions.
  • Mature in conduct behavior and attitude.
  • Able to take orders, follow instructions, accept and assume responsibility for one’s actions.
  • Alertness, attentiveness, and professional conduct.
  • Able to recognize, respond and take appropriate and corrective actions to various situations.
  • Strong moral character. Must possess high standards and be truthful.
  • Able to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing in English.
  • Courtesy in inter-person relationships with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement and security personnel.
  • LEOs may be required to provide a court appearance for citations that are issued on behalf of DOTA.

Requirements

  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter.
  • May be required to provide a court appearance for citations that are issued on behalf of Department of Transportation - Aviation (DOTA).

Qualifications (must have)

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One or more of the following certifications: Certified State law enforcement recruit training, Certified County law enforcement recruit training, Federal law enforcement training.
  • At least 21 years of age, or higher if required by the state.
  • Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Problem solving and active listening skills.
  • Able to assess and evaluate situations effectively; identify critical issues quickly and accurately.
  • Able to mediate conflict with tact, diplomacy.
  • Able to write informatively, clearly, and accurately.
  • Teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail.

Physical Requirements And Environment

  • Mentally and emotionally capable of performing all duties required for their assigned post/duties.
  • In good physical health and be fully capable of performing normal or emergency duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion such as standing, walking patrolling for an entire shift(s), climbing stairs, running and self-defense.
  • Ability to perform essential physical tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
  • Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. (e.g., fire extinguisher) for a designated distance.
  • Assisting in the safe evacuation of individuals, including carrying a small child or providing support to persons with limited mobility.
  • Subject to a random drug screen.
  • Must be able to exercise physical force, if required, in the execution of their official duties.
  • Be able to successfully pass a security background check conducted by the Department of Transportation - Aviation Pass and ID Office.
  • Well-groomed and neat in appearance as officially commissioned representatives of the State.
  • Pass and complete a one-time physical examination within the past 6 months.
  • Pass a 12-panel drug test and pass all future random drug testing.
  • Able to hear at a normal conversational level. A hearing aid may be used to.

Pay

$28.86 / Hour with an hourly bonus of $3.58. Premium paid shall be based on the position actually worked by the employee.
