The Role

This position serves as a law enforcement squad supervisor for the Bureau of Enforcement. The selected applicant will be required to:

  • Ensure that the squad agents complete their assigned percentages of mandatory SYNAR surveys for tobacco products, alcohol surveys, issuance of tobacco citations to underage persons for possession of tobacco products, arrests for possession of alcoholic beverages by underage persons and conduct beverage and tobacco inspections, towards meeting the division goals.
  • Perform special duties and projects as assigned by the assigned Law Enforcement Captain, the Law Enforcement Major, the Chief and Assistant Chiefs of Enforcement, the Assistant Division Director and the Director.
  • Demonstrate excellent supervisory, managerial and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with employees, licensees, state, unions and local law enforcement organizations.
  • Must be knowledgeable of and experienced in law enforcement principles and techniques.
  • Must be able to administer and enforce policies, procedures and regulations related to the core mission of the bureau and division.

Requirements

A minimum of four (4) years of full-time law enforcement experience is required; Must possess and maintain law enforcement certification standards pursuant to Section 943.13, F.S.; Must reside within 70 air miles of the Orlando District Office at the time of employment by the time of hire; Must be available to travel often and in emergency situations with little to no advance notice; Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver’s License by the time of appointment, if selected; Must have successfully completed or be able to complete within one year of appointment, one or more courses addressing leadership and/or law enforcement administration at a level of responsibility similar or beyond the requirements of a Lieutenant.

Qualifications

The preferred qualifications include: Two or more years of regulatory experience OR two or more years of working in the alcohol and/or tobacco industries. The ability to effectively communicate in English, as well as Spanish or Creole.

Pay and Schedule

Salary: $2,307.69 to $2,884.62 Biweekly

Schedule

Must be available to travel often and in emergency situations with little to no advance notice.
