Law Enforcement Liaison
About the Role
The Florida Law Enforcement Liaison (LEL) Program, funded by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), partners with law enforcement agencies and traffic safety stakeholders statewide to advance traffic safety initiatives and recognize outstanding programs through the annual Florida Law Enforcement Traffic Safety Challenge. The Law Enforcement Liaison will act as a liaison among law enforcement agencies, traffic safety partners, and related organizations within an assigned area of responsibility to promote collaboration, coordinate participation in traffic safety programs and initiatives, and support public awareness efforts. The ultimate goal is to reduce traffic crashes, fatalities, and serious injuries across Florida.
Responsibilities
- Promote involvement in traffic safety programs and initiatives with law enforcement agencies, traffic safety partners, and organizations within the designated area of responsibility (AOR).
- Prepare and conduct training sessions and presentations regarding traffic issues and safety campaigns.
- Organize, coordinate, and/or promote enforcement functions, press conferences, safety events, workshops, awards programs, and Local Area Network (LAN) meetings.
- Distribute equipment, promotional items, and educational materials.
- Develop and maintain contact lists and relevant information.
- Maintain promotional, educational, and equipment inventory and distribution records.
- Prepare subgrant and activity reports as well as university, state, and federally required paperwork.
- Attend local, regional, state, and national functions.
- Prepare and distribute certificates, written correspondence, and other duties as assigned.
- Participate in other related programs and committees as appropriate.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Maintain files, records, and documentation as needed.
- During declared campus emergencies, perform specific job-related duties at a designated off-site location or place of residence.
