About the role
The North Carolina Department of Revenue is seeking a Revenue Law Enforcement Agent - Motor Fuels Tax Investigator for their Fayetteville or Charlotte Service Center territories. This position ensures compliance with motor fuels tax law within an assigned territory.
Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections through the fuel distribution system including retail service stations, fuel terminals, and the trucking industry.
- Detect fuel tax evasion.
- Conduct investigations.
- Conduct undercover surveillance of persons and places engaged in motor fuels tax evasion schemes.
Requirements
- Reside within the assigned region.
- Some overnight travel is required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Must be certified as a Law Enforcement Officer in good standing by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission, or able to achieve certification within one year of employment.
Skills and Abilities
- Understanding of legal enforcement methods and adaptability to changing policies, procedures, and priorities.
- Proficiency in public interaction, including clear communication in various forms.
- Knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
