Law Clerk (Supreme Court) Temporary - Honolulu, Oahu

Temporary appointment for nine (9) months, with the possibility of extension. First consideration may be given to applications received by August 31, 2026.

About the role

The Law Clerk is assigned to the chambers of Justice Sabrina S. McKenna of the Hawaii Supreme Court and provides legal research, analysis, and case-preparation support to an Associate Justice of the Hawaii Supreme Court.

Responsibilities

• Conducts research on routine and complex legal issues.
• Analyzes statutes, case law, briefs, and other legal authorities.
• Identifies relevant precedents.
• Prepares concise legal memoranda summarizing research findings.
• Reviews briefs and draft opinions for the accuracy and applicability of legal citations and quotations.
• Studies case records and transcripts in preparation for hearings.
• Attends oral arguments to support the Justice’s consideration and resolution of cases.

Requirements

• Graduation from a school of law recognized by the American Bar Association with a Juris Doctor degree.

Pay

$6,998 per month (SR-20, Step L).
