Responsibilities
- Research and analyze federal tax law, IRS administrative procedures, and Tax Court rules and precedent
- Draft legal memoranda, IRS protest letters, penalty abatement requests, and litigation support documents
- Assist with case preparation for IRS examinations, Appeals hearings, and litigation
- Review and analyze IRS notices, transcripts, and correspondence
Qualifications
- Required: Current enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school, 2L standing or above
- Completion of at least one law school tax course (Federal Income Tax or equivalent)
- PREFERRED: Participation in a law school tax clinic
- Mock trial or moot court experience
- Strong legal research and writing skills; comfort with Westlaw or Lexis
- Interest in federal tax controversy, IRS procedure, or tax litigation as a practice area
