Law Clerk
About the role
The Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy (DPA) is seeking a Law Clerk to assist the criminal defense team in the Owensboro Trial Office. This position is part of the Executive Branch, full-time, eligible for overtime pay, and works 18.75 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Provide support such as legal research and writing to attorneys representing defendants.
- Interview clients as needed.
- Perform duties in both office and courtroom settings.
- Travel is required.
Requirements
- Completion of twenty-four semester hours at an American Bar Association accredited law school.
- No prior experience required.
- No substitute education or experience required.
- No special requirements mentioned.
Working Conditions
Incumbents work primarily in an office setting with minimal travel required. A probationary period of 12 months applies, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
Special Requirements
Employees are prohibited from using medical cannabis due to other applicable state or federal laws.

$43,210.08 - $64,816.08 Annually
