About the Role

The teacher is responsible for imparting knowledge and skills to high school students in the field of law enforcement and public safety. The candidate should have a strong background in law enforcement, public safety, and related occupations. The candidate will utilize research-based theories and strategies to teach, organize, and implement structured lessons for students. Work is performed under the supervision of the principal and CTAE Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of law, law enforcement, and public safety to lead students in gaining skills and understanding of the principles needed to pursue a career in law enforcement and/or public safety.
  • Lead students to the acquisition of industry-recognized certifications in law enforcement and public safety.
  • Make industry connections promoting service learning, cooperative education, and work-based learning opportunities for students.
  • Assist students as an advisor for student organizations and participation in law and public safety competitions.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to individual differences in students.
  • Develop lesson plans and plan lessons in a logical sequence.
  • Collaborate with other educators to create a complete educational environment for students.
  • Administer group standardized tests as required.
  • Use a variety of assessment techniques and/or models to evaluate student performance.
  • Utilize technology and devices as tools in the teaching and learning process.
  • Participate in school and district professional development to support school improvement and student learning.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Enforce rules and regulations as stated in the teacher and student handbook.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures established by district, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or higher required.
  • Minimum of two years of occupational work experience in the field required.
  • GA Teaching Certification in related content area preferred.
