Category: Teaching Job Function: Teaching Department: Bear Creek Middle Summary Provides instruction in selected areas of Law and Public Safety to ensure that students gain appropriate knowledge and skills about the industry and are prepared for a career and post-secondary opportunities Essential Duties Provides content-related and appropriate instruction based on state and local curriculum through a combination of classroom, laboratory, and co-curricular experiences Provides community-based instruction and projects based on program guidelines and requirementsSponsors the local chapter of Skills USAManages and maintains program facilities and equipmentAdheres to all state guidelines required for the implementation of a successful programProvides classroom environment which promotes active learning in subject areaCommunicates responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadershipAccounts for student attendance and punctualityFollows all county, state, and federal policies and proceduresFollows professional ethics in all work-related activitiesAttends school and District-level professional learning activities as directedPrepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absentFacilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communicationsIntegrates appropriate technology into classroom instructionAvoids behaviors which detract from staff moralePerforms other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator Required Education Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice or PSC-determined equivalent Certification/Licensure Must hold or be eligible for Public Safety Certification Experience Qualifications Minimum 2 years of occupational work experience in the field required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Classroom management skills Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing Excellent organizational skills Proven communication and instructional strategies Working Conditions Classroom/lab environment Physical Demands Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds with assistance Ability to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds May require stooping or crouching Posting ID: 35131 It is the policy of the Fulton County School System not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, or disability in any employment practice, educational program, or any other program, activity, or service.
