Laundry Supervisor

About the role

Manage the overall daily operations of the Laundry Room to deliver an excellent guest and member experience while ensuring quality controls and handling guest inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Laundry Department
• Enforce quality controls for all laundry processes, rejecting any exceptions
• Fill in for absent or on-break laundry staff as needed
• Train, develop, and appraise the laundry team
• Maintain cleanliness of the laundry area
• Monitor linen and supplies, advising the manager when reordering is needed
• Ensure par stocks are maintained
• Receive stock and ensure safe storage
• Manage customer service issues quickly and effectively
• Oversee the issuing of linen via a requisition system
• Ensure team members adhere to all Health and Safety regulations
• Carry out other reasonable tasks set by the hotel’s management
• Coordinate maintenance with laundry mechanics
• Perform other projects and tasks as assigned by the manager

Requirements

• Knowledge of stain removal, chemical agents, and operation of various cleaning equipment
• Ability to read and write basic English to complete forms such as status reports, pass-on logs, work ticket requests, and written assignments
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, bend, stoop, push or pull heavy cleaning equipment, and stand for extended periods (lifting may include furniture up to 100 lbs)
• Ability to provide clear direction, instruction, and guidance to subordinates
• Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines
• Ability to exercise professional judgment, decision-making, and implement control over subordinates' performance and conduct
• Ability to perform all positions in the laundry, including safe and proper operation of all equipment
• Ability to walk continuously and climb stairs

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred but not required
• Minimum supervisory experience or one year of comparable housekeeping experience preferred
• Previous experience with laundry supplies and equipment preferred
• Knowledge of other languages is desirable
