Laundry Personnel (72525)

About the role

Performs day-to-day activities of the laundry department to ensure provision of quality laundry service compliance in accordance with Federal, State, and Local ordinances and regulations. Ensures environmental and linen cleanliness and sanitation for resident safety, comfort, and convenience.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of general housekeeping and cleaning duties in various areas to maintain the center in a sanitary, safe, attractive, and orderly condition.
• Coordinates inventories of clothing and personal items brought in with new residents and marks them with proper identification.
• Picks up soiled linen from each wing throughout the shift.
• Prepares articles for washing by unbuttoning, turning pockets out, and unrolling sleeves.
• Sorts soiled laundry into appropriate loads for washing.
• Follows standard washing procedures to add soap solution and other chemicals to wash.
• Dries linens and residents’ clothing in dryers.
• Presses garments and checks the condition of linens for worn spots or tears.
• Folds linen and distributes sufficient amounts to each wing for daily needs.
• Returns clothing to residents following laundry services.
• Reports unmarked clothing to the social services department and disposes of unmarked clothing left in laundry.
• Maintains equipment used in performing duties, including cleaning washers, dryers, lint filters, and soap dispensers.
• Monitors and replenishes cleaning products as required and inventories stock to ensure adequate supplies.
• Uses industrial cleaning equipment and products.
• Makes recommendations to improve service and ensure more efficient operation.
• Works with residents, nurses, physicians, department leaders, and other staff regarding laundry service requests, infection prevention, and service resolution.
• Follows cleaning schedules for workspaces, entrances, exits, utility areas, lounges, lobbies, and halls.
• Performs emergency housekeeping duties, including cleaning lint from dryers, vents, and registers in resident rooms and other areas.
• Keeps grounds cleared of debris and cleans, dusts, washes, and disinfects all fixtures, floors, walls, doors, and ceilings as required.
• Supports the housekeeping and laundry department by fulfilling vacant positions as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
• One year’s work experience in a commercial establishment with knowledge of laundry and housekeeping procedures.
• Knowledge and ability to demonstrate understanding of sanitation regulations and team management abilities.
