About the role
The University of Iowa seeks a Laundry Equipment Operator to manage industrial laundry equipment and linen transportation systems. Responsibilities include operating computer programs, managing the rail linen transportation system, manually sorting, washing, and drying materials, and moving heavy objects.
Responsibilities
- Operate computer programs to control laundry equipment.
- Manage the rail linen transportation system for efficient loading and unloading of linen.
- Manually load soiled linen into washers, unload clean, wet and dry linen, and sort linen by product and customer.
- Unload soiled linen from trucks, accurately weigh and record weights, and load into carts for further sorting.
- Move objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
Requirements
- Ability to read, write, understand, and follow instructions.
- Experience in commercial laundry environments.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to demonstrate civil and respectful behavior towards various individuals and groups.
Qualifications
- Desirable qualifications include experience operating large laundry equipment and basic computer knowledge.
Skills
- Computer literacy.
- Physical stamina for lifting and moving heavy objects.
