About the role
The Laundry Attendant processes, washes, dries, irons, and folds linens and other items safely and efficiently while complying with policies, procedures, brand standards, and regulations. Reports emergencies, accidents, injuries, missing articles, damage, engineering items, and safety hazards to management promptly.
Responsibilities
- Laundry Operations: Sort, wash, dry, fold, and press linens, towels, bed sheets, and other hotel laundry items according to established procedures. Handle laundry equipment, including washers, dryers, ironing machines, and folding tables, ensuring proper operation and maintenance.
- Quality Control: Inspect laundered items to ensure they meet quality standards, addressing stains, tears, or other issues as needed. Follow specific instructions for handling delicate fabrics or special items to prevent damage.
- Inventory Management: Maintain an organized inventory of clean and ready-to-use linens and towels to meet the demands of guest rooms, dining areas, and other hotel departments. Keep track of linen counts, reorder levels, and replenishment schedules.
- Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain laundry equipment, ensuring proper functioning and reporting any maintenance issues to the appropriate department. Follow safety protocols when operating laundry machinery.
- Team Collaboration: Coordinate with housekeepers, Housekeeping Housepersons, and other hotel departments to ensure a steady supply of clean linens and towels for guest rooms, restaurants, and event spaces.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in laundry operations, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting.
- Knowledge of different fabrics, laundering techniques, and proper garment care.
- Attention to detail and the ability to identify stains, damage, or quality issues.
- Basic understanding of laundry equipment and machinery.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Physical fitness to handle repetitive tasks and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Commitment to hygiene and cleanliness standards.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Working Conditions
Physical work is a primary part of the role, including extended standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Work is performed in an interior hotel environment with equipment and machines, involving exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises. Safety precautions and protective equipment are required.
