Responsibilities
- Operate laundry machines to clean facility linens and residents’ personal items.
- Load clothing and linens into washers, adding specified amounts of detergent or other cleaning agents.
- Transfer clean, wet items from washers to dryers for measured time cycles.
- Sort, fold, and place dry items in appropriate storage shelves or resident rooms.
- Comply with facility personnel, safety, and corporate policies and procedures.
- Report witnessed or reported allegations of resident abuse or neglect immediately to the Administrator, Director of Nursing, or Unit Manager.
- Treat residents, family members, visitors, and team members with respect and dignity.
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident and family information.
- Report to work on time and as scheduled.
- Wash and dry resident clothing and facility linens.
- Sort and fold linens and resident clothing, ensuring all items are mended and ready for use.
- Deliver resident laundry as designated.
- Use various soaps, bleaches, and cleaning agents appropriately.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, including cleaning dryer filters as directed.
- Coordinate with supervisor for inventory needs.
- Follow the Housekeeping/Laundry Manual while working.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, including bloodborne pathogens, infection control, hazardous materials use, and fire safety.
Requirements
- Regular worksite attendance.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Willingness to work beyond normal working hours, including weekends and holidays, when necessary.
- Ability to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Use of a transfer/gait belt or assistance from another employee when lifting or carrying objects in excess of 25 pounds.
