About the role
As a Laundry Assistant you will ensure residents’ clothing and the home’s linens are cleaned, dried, ironed, and returned in a timely, hygienic, and respectful manner. Your work is vital to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and dignity for the people in our care.
Responsibilities
- Collect, sort, and wash residents’ personal clothing, bedding, towels, and other laundry items
- Operate laundry machines (washers, dryers, irons, and presses) safely and efficiently
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures and use appropriate detergents and chemicals
- Iron, fold, and return clean items to the correct residents or areas of the home
- Monitor and report maintenance needs or faults in laundry equipment
- Work collaboratively with care and housekeeping staff to coordinate laundry needs
Requirements
- Previous experience in a laundry, housekeeping, or care home role is an advantage
- Understanding of infection control and safe handling of soiled or contaminated items
- Respectful, reliable, and trustworthy when handling residents’ personal items
- Strong organizational and time management skills
