Essential Functions
- Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, hang, and distribute resident clothing, linens, towels, and facility laundry in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
- Ensure resident laundry and facility linens are handled accurately and returned to the correct resident room, apartment, or designated storage area in a timely manner.
- Inspect laundry for stains, damage, wear, or missing labels, and report concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follow infection control, sanitation, and standard precautions when handling soiled laundry, contaminated items, and cleaning chemicals.
- Operate laundry equipment safely and correctly, including washers, dryers, irons, and folding equipment, according to manufacturer guidelines and facility policy.
- Clean and maintain laundry equipment, lint traps, carts, work surfaces, and the laundry area to promote a safe, orderly, and sanitary environment.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect the dignity, privacy, and personal property of residents at all times.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members regarding laundry needs, special requests, and service concerns.
- Absorb and understand the importance of supporting a clean, safe, and welcoming environment consistent with RCAC standards and resident-centered care.
- Comply with all facility policies, safety procedures, and applicable state and local regulations related to laundry services in an assisted living setting.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to read and write at a level appropriate for the job.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, family members and facility staff.
- Knowledge of infection control techniques.
- Ability to be patient and polite
