Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Structural Mechanic to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural repair and maintenance, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to safety and quality.
What You'll Do
- Perform structural assembly, repair and modifications of Telecommunication Satellites, structures or other structures as required to drawing specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and manuals to determine repair and modification requirements.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments to complete tasks accurately.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to resolve technical issues and improve processes.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
What You Bring
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a structural mechanic in aerospace.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and manuals.
- Strong knowledge of materials, tools, and techniques used in structural repair and maintenance.
- Specific skills in riveting, drilling, and fastener installation.
- Surface Prep for Bonding, Incremental drilling for hold size for, Mechanical Assembly and Torque Specifications.
- Clear understanding and demonstration of: Screws, Rivets, Wet Bonding, Laser tracking and Metrology (a plus).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to use hands and fingers to perform repetitive and precision tasks.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various positions, including standing, kneeling, and crouching.
- Ability to communicate effectively, including talking and hearing.
- Ability to work in, on, around, and in proximity to large structures, equipment, and tooling.
- Ability to lift, push, and/or carry items up to 50 pounds as required.
- Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and equipment.
- Ability to work in and around tight or confined spaces.
- Hands-on work with flight hardware, test setups, and precision instruments.
- Availability for extended shifts during launch campaigns.
- Availability to work in environments that may include exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and/or hazardous materials (e.g., carbon fiber).
