About the Role

We are searching for a Launch Management Lead (Sr. Engineer) to join our J&J Orthopaedics team (DePuy Synthes). This position is ideally based in West Chester, PA, though other J&J locations may be considered for the ideal candidate.

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes.

This individual will be part of the DePuy Synthes Supply Chain Product Management (SCPM) group, using knowledge of project management, enterprise-wide supply chains, and manufacturing operations to function as an integral member of a development team devoted to sustainable world-class manufacturing and supply chain operations supporting key strategic NPI or LCM projects. Ensures continuity of supply by leading and participating in complex projects that require influencing and supporting cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Act as Supply Chain Launch Lead for assigned NPI/LCM projects, actively participating in activities/deliverables, project plan development, updates to management, and other core team activities to ensure total team success.
• Provide operations inputs into the design of new products to ensure they meet business metrics including cost and gross profit margins.
• Participate in identifying, influencing, selecting, and qualifying suppliers. Collaborate with internal functions and suppliers to finalize product design, material selection, and process selection.
• Participate in assessing supplier robustness and collaborate on process excellence initiatives for continuous improvement.
• Facilitate the creation of commercial supply agreements to support program needs, ensuring all key operations and manufacturing requirements are adequately addressed.
• Obtain necessary consensus by leading trade-off discussions and prioritization activities on contracts.
• Understand demand planning and work with internal and external teams to develop capacity plans for scale-up, including requirements for capital and validation expenses.
• Support resource planning, scale-up requirements, and headcount requirements for manufacturing internally and externally.
• Participate or lead strategic decision-making processes including make vs. buy analysis, site selection decisions, and make balanced recommendations to management regarding short-term and long-term program objectives.
• Contribute to decision-making in key areas of the project including financial, marketing, planning, quality, and design.
• Ensure all areas of the supply chain (Make, Buy, and Plan) are involved and engaged throughout the project lifecycle, providing two-way communications between project teams and supply chain functions.
• Handle assignments of high complexity and impact to the organization.
• Communicate business-related issues or opportunities to the next management level.
• Ensure compliance with all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety, and Environmental practices.
• For those who supervise or manage a staff, ensure subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety, and Environmental practices.
• Ensure personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local, and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years’ experience with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain Management, or 4 years of experience with an MS or MBA is required.
• Medical Device/Pharmaceutical/Biologics experience is preferred.

Pay

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $94,000.00 - $151,800.00.
