About the role
A CNC Lathe Operator is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC lathe machines to produce precision components according to engineering specifications. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and safety standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience with lathe machines required
Responsibilities
- Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized CNC lathe machines and tools to perform precision machining operations for blueprint specifications
- Machine parts to specifications, using CNC lathes to cut, drill, sand, and finish parts and materials
- Monitor machine operations and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC lathe equipment
- Inspect finished products using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers or calipers, and portable CMM or FARO
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines per setup documentation
- Deburr machined parts to remove nicks, scratches, rough and sharp edges to customer requirements
- Monitor lathe operations
- Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition
- Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine product conformance
- Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency
- Diagnose machine tool malfunctions to determine need for adjustments or repairs
- Confirm with engineering, supervisory, or inspection personnel to verify technical information
- Observe all safety rules and regulations, including wearing required personal safety equipment
- Dispose of scrap or waste material in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations
- Separate scrap waste and related materials for reuse, recycling, or disposal
- Evaluate machining procedures and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency or adaptability per Kaizen process
- Perform other duties as assigned
