Key Responsibilities
- Strategically recruit and develop lateral partner pipelines aligned with business plans.
- Engage in proactive searches to identify and recruit lateral partner candidates.
- Maintain deep market intelligence on lateral activity, market compensation trends, and practice group dynamics.
- Manage candidate engagement and process management, including responding to introductions, conducting due diligence, managing interview schedules, and preparing candidate materials.
- Coordinate integration programs for incoming lateral partners, facilitating introductions, and tracking integration milestones.
- Manage the lateral partner recruiting budget and produce reports for firm leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, J.D. preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in legal recruiting, with at least 3 years focused on partner-level lateral hiring.
- Demonstrated success in closing partner-level lateral placements across multiple practice areas.
- Sophisticated understanding of law firm economics, partnership structures, lateral compensation frameworks, and partner business cases.
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to engage with all levels of firm personnel and external clients.
- Strong project management skills, ability to handle multiple searches simultaneously under competing deadlines.
- Understanding of unconscious bias and its impact on recruiting and hiring.
- Proficiency with legal recruiting databases and CRM tools.
