Lateral Conflicts Analyst
About the role
Lateral Conflicts Analyst applies detailed knowledge of professional methods to produce, review, and analyze conflict of interest reports and complete the onboarding process for all attorney and paralegal hires to the firm. Ensures client service and satisfaction are achieved in all areas of responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate full conflicts checks for overseas paralegal and staff hires in collaboration with Resolution Attorneys and Staff Recruiting.
- Generate, review, and analyze conflict reports using the firm's conflicts software, protocols, and AI-assisted research tools.
- Conduct factual research to identify potential conflicts, including:
- Matter status (open/closed)
- Entity roles in matters
- Corporate affiliate relationships using commercial databases
- Research and update corporate family trees using external databases and AI to streamline and refine findings.
- Independently prepare Lateral Conflict Memoranda in accordance with firm procedures.
- Summarize conflicts analysis results and submit recommendations to lateral attorneys for review and resolution.
- Coordinate with the Office of General Counsel to obtain approval of Director/Officer forms for Partners, Of Counsel, Associates, VIAs, Summer Associates, First-Year Associates, and Paralegals.
- Respond to conflict-related inquiries through the department hotline and prepare Business Development information-only reports.

- Create and maintain ethical walls as requested and in accordance with firm policies.
- Leverage current technology and AI tools to improve efficiency, collaboration, and client service.
- Participate in departmental initiatives and projects that enhance operational efficiency and deliver value to attorneys, clients, timekeepers, and team members.
Qualifications
- One year of conflicts or legal assistant experience (or similar law firm experience in a decision-making capacity) required.
- Familiarity with law firm conflicts systems and Microsoft Word preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to learn and apply conflict of interest principles, exercise sound judgment, and handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work overtime as needed.
