Latent Print Examiner

Responsibilities
- Prepare, search, retrieve, analyze, compare, and evaluate friction ridge images.
- Compare latent prints to known prints and make conclusions, requiring hands-on practical experience with latent print examination, comparison, and identification.
- Examine digital images to determine if a latent print has sufficient quality for comparison or submission to available databases.
- Utilize digital forensic principles and tools, including working knowledge of systems used for identity exploitation of biometric attributes.
- Review and evaluate identity data in large Federal identity repositories, applying management best practices and techniques in the biometric field.
- Write technical reports on the scientific analysis of comparisons.
- Develop and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues.
- Provide outstanding customer service and support to State, Federal, and Local Law Enforcement agencies, DHS agents, and mission partners.
- Provide courtroom testimony, including preparation of charts, photographs, and other materials as needed.
- Train less skilled fingerprint examiners in fingerprint examination and analysis as needed.
- Act as a verifier, providing Quality Assurance (QA) checks for less skilled fingerprint examiners.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
- Must be available weekends and/or holidays, if required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
Requirements
- 3-7+ years of experience as a Latent Print Examiner.
- Experience with preparing, searching, retrieving, analyzing, comparing, and evaluating both ten-print and latent fingerprints using automated tools and manual methodologies.
- Ability to work evening, weekend, and/or holiday shifts, when required.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in a related field.
- U.S. citizenship required to support a government agency.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance (Public Trust).
