Last Mile To Work Coordinator
About the role
Goodwill Kentucky is looking for an energetic, self-motivated, dynamic professional Last Mile to Work Coordinator to join our team. The Last Mile to Work Project will work to repair bicycles for participants in our Last Mile to Work Program. The coordinator will clean, prepare, and repair used bicycles following the standards set forth by the program. Goodwill’s Mission is to connect Kentucky job seekers with the resources and services they need to find and maintain long-term employment and a career path. We serve Kentuckians who have disabilities or experience other challenges finding success in the workforce, such as criminal backgrounds, language barriers, limited education, lack of transportation, and chronic poverty.
Job Type: Part-time, Non-Exempt
Responsibilities
- Evaluate the mechanical condition of the bicycles and determine parts needed utilizing the repair checklist.
- Return bikes to safe operating condition and recycle parts of bikes that cannot be repaired.
- Complete bike repairs and maintenance in a timely manner to meet program needs.
- Report or record replacement parts inventory and supply shortages to the Program Manager.
- Maintain shop cleanliness, tools, and equipment.
- Install and adjust brakes, brake pads, speed and gear mechanisms; install, repair, and replace equipment or accessories, such as handlebars, stands, lights, and seats; and clean and lubricate bicycle parts.
- Develop and coordinate volunteers, as needed.
- Travel to other locations beyond the assigned work location as required.
Requirements
- Some experience preferred working in mechanics or repair.
- Previous bike repair experience preferred.
- Ability to work with hand tools with good manual dexterity.
- Ability to see fine detail.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Interest in working in a team environment committed to providing excellent service.
- Interest in developing own skills and knowledge.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time with occasional walking and standing.
- Ability to periodically lift up to 40 pounds.
