About the role

As a Large Loss Field Property Adjuster at Allstate, you will provide exceptional service to policyholders by traveling to customers' homes for on-site inspections, investigating coverage, preparing estimates, and settling claims promptly and efficiently. You will also handle virtual claims nationwide using platforms like Xactimate and ClaimsX Video Collaboration, with a focus on water losses. This role requires wearing multiple hats, including customer service expert, investigator, communicator, negotiator, problem solver, and recorder.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site inspections at customers' homes to assess damage and investigate coverage.
  • Prepare and settle claims efficiently using tools like Xactimate.
  • Handle virtual claims countrywide using various software platforms.
  • Provide compassionate, clear, and committed customer service, embodying Allstate’s Claims Culture of caring, empowering, and restoring.
  • Investigate property claims independently, interpreting policies to determine coverage.
  • Communicate with customers via phone, email, or video chat to guide them through the claims process.
  • Evaluate and negotiate claims settlements with customers, vendors, third-party carriers, and claimants in accordance with legal and business standards.
  • Utilize critical thinking and multiple tools to solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of claims in Allstate’s claims system.
  • Protect the company financially by adhering to policy agreements.

Requirements

  • Willing and able to carry a 50-pound ladder and access roofs with up to a 6/12 pitch.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as part of the job.
  • Residency within the posted location (Chicago, Illinois) is mandatory.
  • This position is not available for residents of California, Alaska, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico.

Qualifications

  • 4-5 years of experience as an outside adjuster is highly desired.
  • Experience handling claims involving multiple trades and losses over $100,000.
  • Proficiency in Xactimate and other estimating software is preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking and technical skills to assess damages and expedite settlements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to effectively manage both in-person and virtual claims nationwide.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with a focus on delivering high-quality work.

Training

Allstate provides a comprehensive training program to build a claims foundation and familiarize you with systems and processes. Training includes approximately 2 weeks of in-person sessions in Dallas, TX, with ongoing opportunities for continuous improvement on the job.

As a condition of employment, you may be required to obtain an adjuster and/or appraiser license, which includes passing a background check. If applicable, you must secure the license(s) within 60 days of hire. Current employees or candidates with active insurance licenses must terminate all existing appointments prior to onboarding and may not hold outside appointments during employment. Applicants with a resident producer license must formally surrender it when instructed.

Pay

Base compensation for this role is $72,000–$115,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

Sign-On Bonus

You may be eligible for a $1,000 Licensing Sign-On Bonus if you hold the applicable active licenses, such as a Home Resident Property & Casualty License, Designated Home State (DHS) Florida or Texas License, and/or an applicable Appraiser License. Current or former Allstate employees (including its family of companies) are not eligible.
